Agencia Redes and SGS teamed up to promote female leadership in the mining industry, holding workshops in Antofagasta and Calama that provided key tools for empowerment and strategic communication to their employees.

Last Thursday, September 4th, Agencia Redes held the “Strategic Communication and Female Leadership” workshop for employees of SGS, a leading global inspection, verification, analysis, and certification company with a strong presence in Chile and the region’s mining industry. The activity, held in Antofagasta, was led by Paola Quezada, founder and general manager of Agencia Redes, along with organizational and leadership coach Andrea Torres, who provided key tools for promoting empowerment and leadership in both professional and personal settings.

“The workshop, which combines female leadership, empowerment, and strategic communication, seeks primarily to provide tools, but above all, to provide our SGS student collaborators in Antofagasta and Calama with a space for reflection, collaboration, and understanding of the context of what it means and involves to lead, to be led, to hold leadership roles that they can occupy at any level or space within the organization, and also to transform beliefs and remove stigmas and prejudices regarding this topic,” Paola explained.

Claudia Ríos, manager of the SGS Chemical Analysis and Laboratory, commented that “the importance of this workshop lies in bringing together these women, who are tremendously powerful in our organization, listening to their voices, hearing what they have to say, and also balancing this energy at work with our colleagues and peers so that our company continues to grow.”

The implementation of this activity reflects Agencia Redes’ role as a facilitator of initiatives that promote gender equality, innovation, and the strengthening of companies in strategic sectors such as mining and energy, helping to open up more leadership opportunities for women in the region.

Constanza Avendaño Vásquez, Process Operator in the SGS Comminution Area in La Negra, said that the workshop “will help me gain more confidence in my personal life, and in my professional life, it will help me gain confidence in the work I do, learn to communicate better with others, and make the right decisions.”

This initiative was conceived after Agencia Redes’ participation in the Toronto-Canada 2025 PDAC, within the framework of the Technology Market Network project for the commercialization of exportable offerings in supplier companies in Region II (Code: 24REDME-248083-2), supported by the Corfo Antofagasta Committee and brokered by Gedes. It was there that the opportunity to partner with SGS arose, giving rise to this valuable collaboration.

The program’s impact also extended to Calama, where workshops for the company’s female employees were replicated on Tuesday, September 9, reaffirming the joint commitment to strengthening female leadership in the industry.

Camila Alba, a Management Control Engineer in the Robotics Department of the SGS Chemical Laboratory in Calama, spoke about her experience at this activity, sharing, “They’ve taught us a lot about self-awareness, a topic we don’t normally take into account, and I think I’ll be able to put it into practice more in my professional life. I also work with a lot of men, so this workshop has helped me understand them and myself a little better,” she concluded.
